Tyres, legal tread depth requirments. (Car,Van & 4x4)
The minimum legal tread depth is 1.6mm throughout a continuous band across the central three-quarters of the tread, around the entire circumference of the tyre. Tread wear indicators are moulded into the base of the tread grooves are at a height of Aproximately 1.6mm (Note, Motorcycle and Scooters are still at 1mm)

Tyre Pressures, Why and how should the tyre pressures be checked ?)
Correct pressure maintenance cannot be over emphasised when it comes to road safety, as under inflation produces excessive heat build up in the structure of the tyre. This may cause an irreversable change in the properties of the tyre that in turn can lead to a sudden and rapid deflation. Pressures must be checked when cold, Never when tyres are hot.  In many cases, pressures shown on charts give two sets of pressures covering "standard" and "maximum load / speed " conditions. These do NOT represent two riged options, but rather the lower and upper limits for "normal" and "maximum" conditions allowing for various factors of operating conditions.
Do NOT reduce pressures for driving on slush and snow, it does NOT help, it makes it worse as the tread grooves close up reducing the the width of the groove.

Tyre branding
Tyres fall into three main catagories, 1; Premium quality, 2; midrange brands & of course, 3; cheaper  budget makes. (there is a forth, Super value, but I won't go into them on my pages). For advice on your own requirements, give us a call, as buying an expensive premium tyre may be more than you need, or a basic budget tyre may not give the required performance or value.
My own house brand is Falken, a realy good quality brand tyre that gives good road holding & treadwear without costing a fortune thus giving very good value for money, just like Marks and Spencer or the Co-op brands !

Top Premium brand tyres; Examples are :-
Avon, Bridgestone, Continental, Dunlop, Firestone, Goodyear, Michelin, Pirelli, Toyo, Uniroyal & Yokohama.
Good Quality Mid range brand tyres; Examples are :-
Falken, Federal, General Grabber, Hankook & Kumho
Budget brand tyres; Examples are :-
Autogrip, Enduro, Maxxis & many more.
Thank you for looking around our website. Remember we don't do Brakes, Shocks, Exhausts, Batteries or other similar stuff so we won't be trying to sell them to you.
